One Direction's Louis Tomlinson Says His Solo Work Is Inspired by Oasis and Arctic Monkeys
Published Aug 30, 2017One Direction's Louis Tomlinson recently admitted that he was the boy band's most "forgettable" member, which may explain why he's looking to some unexpected sources of inspiration for his upcoming solo debut.
His first single "Back to You" was a synth-y pop ballad featuring Bebe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals, but future tracks may have a bit more of a rock'n'roll edge according to a new interview.
Talking to MTV News, Tomlinson said he drew inspiration from the guitar bands he loved growing up, citing Oasis and Arctic Monkeys as specific influences.
"The way that they write I've always found very interesting because, you know, if you look at a pop song fundamentally, lyrically it's very different to the conversational style that Arctic Monkeys or Oasis might use, and that's exciting to me," he said.
Full details for Tomlinson's first solo album have yet to be revealed, though he did go on to promise that his forthcoming songs will sound "grounded and honest and real."
