Published Nov 09, 2017Back in 2015, Controller.Controller bassist Ronnie Morris suffered a series of disabling strokes not long after the band had reunited. Continuing to support their bandmate, the Toronto group have announced the release of a new 7-inch, marking their first new recording in over a decade.
Set to arrive November 30 through Label Obscura, the 7-inch features a cover of Joy Division's "She's Lost Control," assembled around bass lines that Morris recorded back in 2006 and with the band adding new instruments and vocals to the track this year. The B-side features a brand new remix of Controller.Controller's 2004 track "History" reinterpreted by Sebastien Grainger.
The 7-inch will be available in a limited edition of 500 copies with hand-stamped artwork, 130 of which include "special perks," in addition to being signed by the band. Those exclusive editions will also include additional digital downloads of remixes from Jesse Zubot, Coins, Torro Torro, and afrech sorgbreyta.
Controller.Controller and Label Obscura will celebrate the 7-inch with a release show at Toronto's Baby G on November 30. The evening will feature performances by Hit the North (members of Controller.Controller, Public Animal, the Two Koreas, and Uncut) and Lolaa (members of Magneta Lane), in addition to tunes from DJs Permboy and LinderLegs.
Further information on the release show can be found here, while you can pre-order the 7-inch here.
