Published Feb 13, 2020Netflix released To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You yesterday (February 12), and in attempt to sucker viewers in to a subscription, the streaming service will let everyone stream the prequel, To All the Boys I've Loved Before, for free.
The original young adult rom-com was released exclusively through Netflix last year and will be available to non-subscribing viewers in the U.S. and Canada until March 9.
It's a move aimed at turning fans of the first film into subscribers, since the only way to watch the sequel is with a Netflix subscription.
Netflix made a similar move in the U.K. with The Crown, as well as with certain regional titles in Mexico, Colombia and India. However, this marks the first time it's been done in North America. Other streamers like HBO and Showtime have also previously offered free first episodes of original series to entice subscribers.
To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You sees the return of breakout stars Lana Condor and Noah Centineo.
It's currently available on Netflix, just in time for Valentine's Day. You also have until March 9 to watch To All the Boys I've Loved Before without a subscription.
A third film in the series is reportedly already in the works.
